All Dogs and Cats 3 months of age or older must be registered. The owner of a dog or cat who fails to register his/her animal may be liable to an on-the-spot fine for each unregistered animal. A child's dog must be registered in the parent's or guardian's name. A dog or cat being registered for the first time with council must be microchipped. You must provide proof of microchipping.
Microchip numbers are approximately 15 digits long, it is different to the tag number provided to you by central animal records etc. Do not provide the tag number, as your registration will not be processed. If you are registering a dog or cat as being desexed you must provide proof of sterilisation

A dog or cat being registered for the first time with council can only be registered in one person’s name.
If you are transferring your registration from another council, you must provide proof of your dog or cat being registered for the current year
Please note: Animal registration are renewed 10 April annually. Registered animal owners will receive a registration renewal notice prior to the new registration year beginning. Half price registration fees apply from 10 October.
